Cryolipolysis

Brief

Cryolipolysis, commonly referred to as “CoolSculpting” by patients, uses cold temperature to break down fat cells. The process helps people who wish to reduce a fat bulge and the exercise or diet isn’t helping. The fat cells are particularly susceptible to the effects of cold, unlike other types of cells and when they freeze, the skin and other structures are spared from injury. This is one of the most popular nonsurgical fat reduction treatments, with over 450,000 procedures performed worldwide, and Dr. Anju Methil, the best dermatology doctor in Mumbai can guide you through the process seamlessly with her success rate.

Purpose Of Cryolipolysis

Cryolipolysis, commonly referred to as fat freezing, is a nonsurgical fat reduction procedure that uses cold temperatures to reduce fat deposits in certain areas of the body. The procedure is designed to reduce localized fat deposits or bulges that do not respond to diet and exercise.

Procedure Of Cryolipolysis

A handheld device called an applicator is used to freeze the layer of fat cells (adipocytes) underneath the skin. First, a gel pad is applied to the area to protect the skin. Next, the fatty bulge is suctioned or vacuumed into the applicator’s hollow opening. You will feel a tugging or pulling sensation as suction is applied. These sensations, intense cold plus other possible sensations – tingling, stinging, aching, cramping – lessen after 5 to 10 minutes as the area becomes numb during the cooling down process. The fat layer is gradually cooled to the target temperature of between 30.2 and 39.2 degrees Fahrenheit. It takes up to one hour to treat an area. After the area is treated, the applicator is removed. The area may be massaged for 2 to 3 minutes to assist with the breakdown of the fat cells.

Time Taken For Cryolipolysis

Each treatment area varies slightly, but the session usually lasts between 30-60 minutes. During this time, applicators will be applied to your desired treatment area. Once treatment starts, you will feel a cold sensation on the skin, but the experience is relaxing.

No Of Sessions

One session is normally enough for smaller areas, but if you want to treat a larger area or have a little more fat to address, two or three treatments may be necessary. In general, most people achieve their desired results after two sessions.

Frequent Treatment Required For Cryolipolysis

Cryolipolysis need  1-4 treatments depending on the client. Most clients see great results after the first treatment. This will typically be determined at your free consultation on how many treatments you would need.

What To Expect After Cryolipolysis

Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity, and sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental or submandibular area treatment.

Result Of Cryolipolysis

It’s non-surgical, non-invasive, and requires no recovery time. Following a procedure, injured fat cells may take 4-6 months to leave the body. Cryolipolysis reduces fat in the treatment area by 20 percent on average.

Recovery Time After Cryolipolysis

There is virtually no set recovery period after a Cryolipolysis treatment as you can re-join work immediately after a session.
